IDAHO FALLS, Idaho ー Senator Mike Crapo is weighing in on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s most recent comments about not impeaching President Donald Trump.
“I’m not for impeachment,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi toldThe Washington Post. “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”
Senator Mike Crapo told KID NewsRadio he thinks Speaker Pelosi’s comments may be tied to a longer term look at the next election.
“President Trump’s record is very solid,” Senator Crapo told KID NewsRadio. “I think the reason Nancy Pelosi said that is not because she’s just being magnanimous. It’s because she realizes that the American people will not react very well to it, and I think she’s looking towards the next election.”
Additionally, Sen. Crapo said, there’s not much to indicate the president is guilty on any wrongdoing. As the nation awaits the much anticipate Mueller report, little has been said about any direct evidence to potential crimes committed by President Trump.
“If there had been more that they had identified, it probably would have been identified by the Senate Intelligence Committee and the House Intelligence Committee, which have also been investigating this for some time,” Sen. Crapo said. “But again, we just don’t know right now and I do believe on the Mueller report that they should wrap that up and get their report out, and I also believe that that report should be made public.”
